Oh No, I Messed Up!

A few weeks ago while we were in Tucson, we decided to visit Kartchner Caverns, about 45 minutes away. After checking the tour schedule online, I saw it was fully booked for the weekend.  Hoping for Monday, I called and learned it was also booked due to Veteran's Day.  Tuesday had limited spots and I was focused on making sure the girls could be back by 12pm for online classes.

Without double-checking my calendar, I quickly made the reservation for Tuesday morning. Later, when I went to add it to my schedule, I realized I had two calls booked that same day!

I felt the panic set in—I messed up!

Being my word is one of my highest values, and canceling my calls without an emergency is a non-negotiable. I needed to find a way to honor my commitments while still making it work.

I thought about it and came up with a plan, we could leave early and I'd do the first call from the car while Edward took the girls for a walk.  After the tour, I'd stay and do the second call while they drove back.  The logistics were tight, and they'd need to return to pick me up.

Then Edward, always a genius with out-of-the-box solutions, had an idea: “What if we rent a Turo car? You can use it as your office for the day and still join the tour.”

It was a $100 investment that made perfect sense. I managed the timing without impacting my entire family, had a dedicated space to work, avoided stress, and honored my commitments to both my clients and my family. It was a win-win-win!

The real WIN in this story is more than just making it work, it was knowing I kept my word.  Not to please others or avoid disappointing them, but to honor my commitments to myself.  That inner trust builds confidence, showing that my words can be trusted to translate into actions and results.

Because of this, I powerfully served my clients, we toured Kartchner Caverns, and the girls made it to school on time.
